What Decatur actually has — and what it doesn’t
Being straight with you: Decatur is not a coworking market. The one workspace we track downtown is a meeting and event venue — rooms for eight to a hundred and fifty people, bookable singly or as a whole venue. There is no hot desk here, no monthly membership and no private office to rent by the month.
That makes it genuinely useful for one job and useless for another. If you need somewhere to run a training day, a board meeting, a client presentation or a private event in downtown Decatur, this is the address. If you need a desk to work from on Tuesdays, it is not, and we would rather say so than sell you a tour.
The venue does not publish rates. Room hire is quoted on the date, the headcount and how much of the building you take, which is normal for event space — so the number comes from us asking, not from a price list.
Where to look if you need a desk instead
Decatur sits about half an hour from Huntsville, and that is the practical answer for anyone who needs an actual workspace rather than a room for the afternoon. We track eight workspaces in Huntsville — day passes from $35, memberships from $150, private offices to $750 — including addresses in west and south Huntsville that cut the drive from the river.
Tell the concierge you are Decatur-based and we will weight the Huntsville options by drive time rather than by postcode. If a genuine Decatur coworking space opens, we will list it — and if you know of one we have missed, tell us and we will go and verify it.
Downtown Decatur, for context
The venue is on Bank Street in the historic district on the south bank of the Tennessee River — a few blocks of restored nineteenth-century commercial buildings, and the most characterful room you will book in north Alabama for the money. For a client-facing meeting that is not nothing: a downtown Decatur address reads very differently from a conference room off a bypass.
Frequently asked questions
Not that we currently track. The one Decatur workspace on our books is a meeting and event venue downtown, not a coworking space — there is no hot desk or monthly membership available. Huntsville is about half an hour away and has eight workspaces, which is where most Decatur-based people end up looking.
The venue does not publish rates. Event and meeting space is normally quoted on the date, the headcount and how much of the building you need, so there is no list price to show you. Send us your date and numbers and we will get the current quote from the operator, free.
Eight to a hundred and fifty, depending on the room and the layout. You can book a single room or the entire venue, which makes it workable for anything from a small board meeting to a conference or a private event.
Not from the workspace we track — it is meeting and event space only. If a monthly office is what you need, say so on the form: we will look at Huntsville options weighted by drive time from Decatur, and we will go looking in Decatur itself rather than pretend we already have one.
Roughly half an hour, and the west and south Huntsville addresses are the closest of the eight we track there. Huntsville memberships start at $150 a month and day passes at $35, so a couple of days a week in Huntsville is a real option for a Decatur-based business.
