What Birmingham's workspace market looks like
Birmingham is the state’s largest metro and it has the deepest published price range to match: $25 a day, $129 to $350 a month, and meeting rooms at $25 to $40 an hour across the four workspaces we track. That $129 floor is the second-cheapest membership on this site.
Three of the four sit in the downtown numbered-street grid — 19th Street North, 1st Avenue North and 3rd Avenue North — which makes Birmingham the only Alabama market where you can realistically compare options on foot in an afternoon. The fourth is in Parkside, the district built around Railroad Park and Regions Field on the south edge of downtown.
The four are genuinely different products rather than the same desk at four prices. One is a coworking and hot-desk floor with meeting rooms by the hour. One is a startup-focused workspace with the fullest amenity list in the metro — phone booths, printing, secure access and a gym. One pairs coworking with the market’s only virtual-office plan. One is furnished executive suites and nothing else.
Downtown or Parkside?
Downtown for the choice and the walkability; Parkside for the lowest monthly rate in the metro and a business address plan. They are a short walk apart, so this is a question of what you need rather than where you live.

How Birmingham prices compare with the rest of Alabama
Birmingham has the widest published spread of any market we track: $129 a month at the bottom, $350 at the top. Only Huntsville stretches further, and it does so by including $750 private offices.
That $129 floor undercuts Mobile at $149, Tuscaloosa at $150 and Montgomery at $325 — and in the largest metro in the state, which is not the usual direction. The $25 day pass is mid-range: Mobile and Opelika start at $20, Huntsville at $35.
Meeting rooms at $25 an hour downtown are the cheapest published hourly rate on this site. If you need a room rather than a desk, Birmingham is where the money goes furthest.
Frequently asked questions
Across the four Birmingham workspaces we track, day passes are $25, monthly memberships run $129 to $350, and meeting rooms are $25 to $40 an hour. The $129 rate in Parkside is the lowest published membership in the metro and the second lowest of the ten Alabama markets we cover.
The 1st Avenue North building downtown lists the fullest set by some distance: 24-hour access, parking, high-speed WiFi, a kitchen, phone booths, printing, secure access, mail and reception, and a gym. It is also the only one of the four combining coworking with private offices.
Yes, from the Parkside workspace on 1st Avenue South, which is the only one of the four publishing a virtual-office plan. Whether that address can serve as your registered agent address in Alabama is a question for your attorney — the state requires a physical in-state street address for that role.
Two of the four publish an hourly rate: $25 downtown on 19th Street North and $40 in Parkside. The $25 rate is the cheapest published meeting-room hour on this site. Send the concierge your date and headcount and we will confirm availability at both.
Downtown, if you want a door that closes — it has the private offices, including a furnished executive-suite building at $350 a month, and two of its three workspaces list parking. Parkside is the better solo or budget choice at $129 a month, and it is a short walk away rather than across town.
