What types of workspace you can actually find in Mobile
Mobile is Alabama’s original port city and it has always been a working town. From the Austal USA shipyard to the Airbus final assembly line at Brookley Aeroplex, the local economy runs on shipbuilding, aviation and Gulf Coast commerce — so demand for flexible workspace looks different here than it does in Huntsville or Birmingham.
We track seven workspaces across four neighborhoods, covering five categories: private offices, coworking and hot desks, bookable meeting rooms, virtual offices and event space. Coworking dominates downtown; the private-office addresses sit out west in Cottage Hill, Montlimar and West Mobile.
The three coworking-led buildings are all downtown — St Louis Street, Government Street and Dauphin Street — and all three carry 24-hour access and high-speed WiFi. Head west and the format shifts toward full-service suites: the Montlimar address adds parking, a gym and a kitchen, and Cottage Hill adds secure access and a virtual-office plan.
Virtual offices are the quiet workhorse of this market. Three of the seven — Cottage Hill, Montlimar and the downtown Water Street address — offer a plan, which gives a registered Alabama business a real street address without a full lease.
Which Mobile neighborhood should you pick?
Downtown for coworking, walkability and client-facing meetings near the port and the courthouse. Cottage Hill, Montlimar or West Mobile for private offices with easy parking and a quicker run from the I-65 and Airport Boulevard corridors.
| Neighborhood | Spaces | Best for | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown | 4 | Coworking, meetings, waterfront addresses | Day pass from $20 |
| Cottage Hill | 1 | Private offices with secure access | Day pass from $29 |
| Montlimar | 1 | Executive suite with gym and parking | Day pass from $45 |
| West Mobile | 1 | Private team offices, suburban access | Pricing on request |
Downtown is the obvious choice if you take client meetings, use the federal court, or want to walk to lunch on Dauphin Street — memberships there run $149 to $160 a month and day passes start at $20. If your people drive in from Daphne, Spanish Fort or Semmes, Cottage Hill and Montlimar sit closer to the I-65 and Airport Boulevard corridors.
How much does coworking and office space cost in Mobile?
Mobile day passes run $20 to $45, monthly coworking memberships $149 to $160, and meeting rooms $39 an hour. Private-office monthly rates are quoted per space rather than published.
Mobile is the cheapest way into a desk of the three biggest markets we track. Its $20 day pass is the lowest on the site — Birmingham’s starts at $25 and Huntsville’s at $35. Monthly coworking sits in a notably narrow band, $149 to $160, where Huntsville spans $150 to $750 and Birmingham $129 to $350. Fewer operators competing for the same customers makes for less spread, not just lower prices.
- Day passes are the cheapest way to test a space. MOB-01 downtown starts at $20.
- Memberships in the $149–$160 band come with high-speed WiFi and 24-hour access at all three downtown buildings; two of the three add parking, coffee and printing.
- Private offices in Cottage Hill, Montlimar, West Mobile and downtown need a tour for exact pricing — rates depend on office size, term and whether you need furniture. That is what the concierge is for.

Why Mobile is a good market for flexible workspace right now
Mobile’s economy is diversifying. Airbus builds A220s at Brookley, Austal USA builds Navy vessels on Blakeley Island, and downtown keeps drawing residential and retail investment. That pulls in engineering firms, defense subcontractors and remote professionals who want flexible space rather than a five-year lease.
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce tracks the aerospace and shipbuilding supplier base, much of which needs a professional Mobile address without the overhead of a traditional office — which is exactly what the current mix of coworking and executive suites is built to serve. Downtown redevelopment is worth watching too: the waterfront, the Dauphin Street entertainment district and the work around the Mobile Convention Center all make a downtown address easier to justify for client-facing businesses.
Working across more than one Alabama market?
We cover ten Alabama metros with the same concierge model, so a Mobile business with people elsewhere in the state does not need a second directory. A downtown Mobile base pairs naturally with a satellite address in Birmingham or Montgomery for state-government work, or with occasional meeting-room bookings in Huntsville for aerospace and defense clients. Tell the concierge which cities you need and we will handle all of them at once.
Frequently asked questions
Month-to-month is the normal arrangement for coworking memberships and virtual-office plans, and private offices often price better on a six or twelve month term. We do not publish contract terms per listing because operators change them, so confirm the exact commitment on your tour — or ask us and we will get it in writing from the operator first.
Sometimes, but not always, and it depends on what you mean by registered. Alabama requires a registered agent with a physical street address in the state, and not every virtual-office plan is set up to serve that role. Plans can usually be used as your business's mailing and marketing address. Confirm the specific use with the operator and with your attorney or registered agent before you sign up — we are a workspace directory, not legal advisers.
Brookley sits immediately south of downtown Mobile, so the downtown addresses are the closest of the seven we track — including the Water Street building, MOB-07, which also has private offices, parking and a gym. The Cottage Hill and Montlimar addresses are the west-side alternatives, nearer the Airport Boulevard and I-65 corridors.
Yes — five of the seven list 24-hour access: MOB-01, MOB-02 and MOB-03 downtown, MOB-05 in Cottage Hill, and MOB-07 on Water Street. The Montlimar and West Mobile addresses do not list it. If round-the-clock access matters, say so on the form and we will only send you the ones that have it.
Yes. Three of the seven publish an hourly meeting-room rate — Cottage Hill, Montlimar and the downtown Water Street address — all at $39 an hour. The West Mobile address has meeting rooms on site but does not publish a rate. Send the concierge your date and headcount and we will pull current availability across all of them.
